{"id":400,"date":"2021-02-19T17:31:00","date_gmt":"2021-02-19T17:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.painecuadrelli.com\/now\/?p=400"},"modified":"2023-11-06T23:27:40","modified_gmt":"2023-11-06T23:27:40","slug":"africa-oscura-reloved","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.painecuadrelli.com\/now\/2021\/02\/19\/africa-oscura-reloved\/","title":{"rendered":"Africa Oscura Reloved"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Back in 2018, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fourfliesrecords.com\">Four Flies Records<\/a> unearthed the previously unheard \u2018Africa Oscura\u2019, considered by many as the \u201cdark side\u201d of \u2018Zoo Folle\u2019 \u2013 Giuliano Sorgini\u2019s masterpiece (reissued by Four Flies Records in 2016) \u2013 and partly recorded during the same session in 1974.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The original work portrays a fictional and mysterious continent, providing a soundtrack tinged with dark moods and cosmic shades. <a href=\"https:\/\/fourfliesrecords.bandcamp.com\/album\/africa-oscura\">\u2018Africa Oscura\u2019 <\/a>was entirely recorded by the composer, who played all instruments in his studio in Rome. This resulted in a formal spareness, a minimalism that gives it a modern quality, something which makes it stand the test of time, or at least resonate with contemporary taste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since its release, \u2018Africa Oscura\u2019 has become a classic \u2013 a pivotal release not only within Sorgini\u2019s discography, but also one that made his name more known and accessible to a new generation of music professionals, DJs and fans of electronic music.<br>Four Flies have thus decided to celebrate its modernity with a double 12\u201d featuring 7 reworks by six of Italy\u2019s most visionary DJs\/producers: Jolly Mare, L.U.C.A. (aka Francisco), pAd, Pain\u00e9, and Quiroga &amp; Dario Bass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The original tracks have been reworked with different approaches, sometimes into full reinterpretations, and with demanding dance floors in mind.
